Just had to get out and enjoy the afternoon with some fishing. Called DK and he was up to a second trip for him today. We ended up fishing deep with the wind a factor for a while and the current becoming a factor for about the last hour or so. We started out catching fish pretty consistently to begin with but the bite slowed pretty quickly, only picking up one here and one there. The fish were holding at about a 27-30 count. Boat control was a big part of the problem I think as there was current going one way and wind going another. We both were using 1/16 oz jigs with DK using multiple colors and me staying with a BG shad that had been working well for me. I'm only going to say that the color that I have been using has some blue in it. We didn't catch a non-keeper and ended up with 11 or 12 nice sized crappie. DK did catch one over 14 inches. The fishing was really pretty slow but still a great time with a great fisherman. I had commented about how the current had increased while we were out fishing once last week and again, the same thing happened tonight. To fish the area that we wanted to hit we had to cast far up current and wait the 30 seconds or so to start our retrieve. When we first got there we could cast about where we wanted to and just retrieve straight back. With the current ripping past, the bait would be very hard to keep in the strike zone for any period of time. I will copy the discharge info from today and you can see that there was a big increase in outflow in the 6-7pm hour, just when the fish usually start to really turn on, we couldn't get the bait to the fish!
