Hey guys, I've been wanting to find a place where I could get into a Tiger trout with very little luck. Any suggestions?

scofield, currant creek, the uintas, and several unmentionables

Lots of waters in Utah. None in Idaho.

I have often wondered why Idaho doesn't have Tiger Trout? I would love to have a chance without traveling to Utah. I guess Fish & Game can tell me why.

Thankfully, I cant stand the fish. Would so much rather catch a pure brown or brook trout.

why the dislike? I honestly haven't heard much about them other than they're a good fight and can be quite beautiful.

I just would rather catch a brown or brook trout is all. They can be pretty, but a brook trout or brown can be much prettier IMO.

That print on the Tigers is sure cool.. looks like Egyptian Hieroglyphics...LOL

I will deliberately go after a Big Brown or a Nice Brookie, and if a tiger finds it's way to my hook...cool

I think tigers could have a place in Idaho. They would be good in redeeming some of the lakes that have perpetually stunted brookies. I know F&G is experimenting with tiger muskie is some mountain lakes, and some are working and some aren't. So maybe a try with the tiger trout, just stock them at a large enough size to get a start on controlling the population problem.

I definitely agree with using hybrids like tiger trout/muskie to control fish population in areas where the fish are stunted from overpopulation/competition, wish they would do it in some of the bass puddles I fish. fun to catch so many fish, frustrating that none get over 15 inches

I'm not sure which bass puddles you've been fishing, but the ones I fish do have some bass over 15". Not as many as under, but they're around.

They did plant tiger musky in Lamont, Johnson and Condie, but it's been a while. I'm not sure how many are left.

As for tiger trout, I've enjoyed them. They're aggressive, fight hard and can be quite beautiful. I wouldn't mind seeing some in southeast Idaho mixed in with the Kamloops. I like variety, so that would help keep things interesting.

You forgot they put some in twin lakes also.. the ones from bolth condie and twin are gone they drained bolth places.. still a couple in lamont and one or two in johnson..there prety big..
[signature]
Yeah, I figured the ones in Twin were long gone, so I didn't mention them. I didn't realize that they drained Twin at one point. I guess I'm grateful for all the water we've had, even though it made fishing a little tougher this year. I would be pretty Sad if either of those waters were drained again.

Yeah they poisend it way back in the early 90's because of invasive plants and some how carp had gotten in there..
[signature]
Gross. Well I'm glad they cleaned the nasty carp out of there. There are plenty of them in The Bear River system to keep me busy if I feel like catching them.

No joke on bear river system.. and some huge carp at that just a couple weeks ago my dad pulled a 30" 20lbs carp from the narrows
