Just in case you are in the market......... I ordered 2 of these today. I figured how could I go wrong? The lightning rods I have now are my favorite, but they are the UL, not M action. Anyway, if you are in the market these are a heck of a deal. Pair these with a jigger totter and you'll have a sweet setup.

Rod/reel combo: [url "http://www.poorfish.com/p-15054-berkley-lightening-ice-spin-rod-28in-medium-lris28m-r.aspx?shoppingcode=google"]http://www.poorfish.com/...?shoppingcode=google[/url]

I'll review these for you when they arrive. I've previously reviewed the JT's so I won't do that again, but I'll review these combos. I just don't see how you could wrong at this price.

Edited: (Removed the JT link. Don't want to get into trouble.)

That does look like a good deal.

Nothing wrong with propping up the jiggertotter. Be careful with the advertising. The owner wants paid advertising or we don't have a place to play.[laugh]

While we are talking about ice fishing toys. I just ordered two jaw jackers from jawjackerfishing (Matt Dungan) a local company in Rigby. I hope they work as well as his early versions that I saw out on Henrys Lake.

I also saw he got them into sportsmans warehouse in IF.

Just took a look at those. Very nice, but almost doesn't seem fair for the fish.... Plus it takes away a good part of the fun.... But still, I might get one anyway (2 or 3 if I like them).[Wink]

My plan is to use them for my outer rods. I tend to look for fish by fishin in a line out from a bank, ledge, point etc... If I put the jaw jackers on the holes that are the furthest from me then I can concentrate on jigging whatever hole I am working on. Then I can see if the fish moved or are on another contour line...kind of like tip ups.

He let me play with them on Henrys and let me tell you they are fun. I just don't know if the production model will be as good as the ones he machined himself.

Jaw jacker??? Is that something similar to the automatic fisherman, the self hooksetting tipup/rodholder.

i thought self hooking fishing setups were illegal here. for some reason i seem to think i read that somewhere in the idaho regs. im gonna read it again right now and ill get back to ya.

na they cant be illegal the work on the same principal as down riggers. but a cool item makes me wonder if it wouldnt be to hard to rig up something similar a guy could get a whole bunch of money tied up in those.

Matt has done his homework. They are totally legal except in Minnesota I believe.

Are you going to be down here anytime during the ice season.

I am curious as to the quality of the real that comes with it. I am imagining a really cheap reel, the rod looks good. Let us know.

How much was postage on the 2 rods ? Curt G.
[signature]
After shipping it was $32 or $33 for 2. Still about 1/2 of what they would cost and SW or Cabelas...

I expect the reels to be worth the money. I'll let you all know when they come in.

I posted this same deal on another forum and several popped up and said they have them and that they are too stiff for perching (which I kind of expected), but I expect them to perform well at Henry's.

Again, review to follow, once they arrive.

Are you going to make it over to fish Henry's this year ? If so let me know when . I would like to try and get up there at the same time so I could meet you . Curt G.

Sending you a PM. I don't want the whole world to know my vacation schedule....[Wink].

Jaw Jackers are available at Sportsman's, in case anyone wants to see one.

Well, the rods arrived today. I have't touched the merchandise yet, but my wife said they arrived so I had her open them. They were rods only with no reels. I've emailed them to see what's up. I'll keep you updated, but it is starting to feel like a rip-off.

Beware of poor-fish.......

Contents1 Berkley Lightening Ice Spin Rod 28in. Medium LRIS28M-R

This is what they have listed for the contents they talk about the real in the description but no mention of the reel in the content. Very shady if you ask me. Hope it works out for you.

So, now I've seen the rods.

They are very nice rods with a fairly limber tip and decent backbone. They'll be great rods for use at Henry's and Magic as well as at Cascade for trout. A bit on the stiff side for perch, but still do able.

They offered me to return them for a full refund (they pay the freight), or I can keep them and they will give me an $8 refund on my CC. They admit that the incorrect description was used by accident (which mentions 8 times about a reel or features of the reel). They seem sincere and I like the rods, so I think I am going to keep them and take the credit.

Glad they were willing to meet you half way!

That sounds reputable after the advert mess up.
