I went fishing at Henry's this morning and it was iced up!!!!!
Then, I woke up and came to work......
Anyone know what's going on there? Seems like it's been pretty cold. I was thinking maybe the edges are icing up?

I have heard there are ice patches. That means that it can either continue to freeze up and cap in the next few days or....it could blow off and be a while yet.
I am hoping it keeps blowing off until Thanksgiving week simply because I can't make it up there until then.

I was at Henry's over this last weekend. Was around 20 degrees most of the time I was there on Sat and Sun. At that time there were small patches of ice starting up around the State docks. Fishing was fairly steady paced. I caught a couple around the 2 pound range just floating a worm. There was a couple guys that were fly fishing. Couldnt really see what they were throwing but seemed like most everyone was catching a few here and there.

Dropped in by the state dock on my way past sunday night. Only Ice I saw was in the corner there by the ramp. Had a bit filled in, maybe 100 sqaure feet or so.

Weather.com is predicting single digit temps for the next couple of nights. Shouldn't be long now. If we get a night without wind it might cap over, but then it will probably open up again during the day.

It was 9 degrees this morning at my house, so I would bet that it is VERY cold up there!

On second thought never mind! I looked at the current temperatures and the lows are all over the place. Such as 7 degrees on the Portneuf River, but 20 degrees up in Island Park and Henrys. Not as cold up there as I thought!

Any news? All my classes are canceled tomorrow and want to sneak one more trip in.

All the boat docks are frozen . The only place I found to fish off the bank was the beach west of the boat ramp at the state boat ramp . We caught two 4 pound Cutthroughts and one 3 pound Rainbow . I think there will be people ice fishing it next weekend 19 and 20 of November . Curt G.

High wind warning for tomorrow, not sure if its going to blow up north or not but if it does it will probably break up what ice has formed.

I was just wondering what everyones favorite tackle set up they like for Ice fishing Henrys? Is it the same as normal trout fishing? Ive never been there before, planned on taking my wife and dad and the kids on the 8th and get them in some fish.

Any update on the ice/wind up there? Did the wind blow off all the ice?

I always go paddle bugs, paddle bugs, and more paddle bugs. I change the hooks out to more expensive tougher hooks than the ones that come with them.

1.5" Cut'r Bugs from Maniac Lures with a 1/16 ounce chartreuse hook. I like the chartreuse sparkle and white with sparkle the best. Tip with a mealworm and smother with crawdad Smelly Jelly. Constant jigging works best for me.
