Anyone cruisin by Carey Lake that could stop by and see if there is some ice forming yet? Last year that was my fist outing. Needing to try out my new Nils auger.

Thanks

I never caught a fish at carey last year. After three trip and three skunks I wrote it off. I think a lot of the fish moved out into the new water that the floods created. I don't know if they came back into the channels. I don't think I will be messing with it for a while. I might try one day next spring. Ron

Thats a bummer to hear, I used to fish CL with my dad and grandpa when I was a kid. some of the nicest bluegill I've ever seen.

My son and I didn't get a bite either fishing at Carey Lake this past summer. It was cold and maybe the fish were hugging bottom. A person would have thought the perch would at least bite. Kind of weird I think. Where were the fish?

Your right it was very cold every time I went. In fact it was colder by the spring than in the back. There was so much incoming water that I think they headed for the desert. Ron

Yeah, that might have explained why the bluegill and pumpkin seed sunfish weren't biting. They probably had lock jaw and were hugging bottom looking for warmer water or something. I would have thought the perch would have cooperated tho. Even they were not biting.

I stopped once, got small perch every cast just there by the boat ramp. Could see bass swimming that day too. Only there about 20 minutes. The next week I would have bet there wasn't a fish in there.
This was late Sept/early Oct.
