Sure, its good to be curious so why not, this is my 2nd biggest best for this year 2nd for the lake. Lol fish is even in the lead for the 443 challenge,,live bait, but this guy would of hit anything,he was hunting along the shoarline when I found him,I even saw him play from far on the way there,I was on my way cause he robbed me a week earlier, baitfish was three times larger! That day I didn't see her.On this day I saw something play right up on the shoar, when I got there I saw nothing, turns out it was something,I thought it was a shadow or weeds, but it was her,all along sitting there ,but then slowly and suddenly, began moving slowly toward me

[inline "443 clhallenge new leader.jpg"]y[inline "443 bass.jpg"] Bass is 22"1/2,if you zoom in you can see its 1/4"over 22,plus tape measure was another 1/4 shy of the bottom lip, either way I'm still in the lead,a special shout out to gdn443 ,she was big,if you only seen the bait fish she took a week earlier,I had caught a 6ounce baitfish trolling with a tiny yozuri lure,a "Myan cichlid" last cichlids of the Myan civilization,I went over to a fisherman on shoar. I trolled the big baitfish towards him as I wanted to show him cause he had caught a smaller one earlier,I'm telling him how nice it would be if a bass ate my fish ,just then it happened,I felt it, ....,let her run,I set the hook gently but the small hooks broke and some bent,I never did find my lure[:/] but I did get the one that got away, bass was still in the same area.So yea I've caught most of my big bass this way and with 10" worms, and my biggest with a big lure.I even had 2 bass eat two large baitfish to my surprise, stole one and ate another.on this pic from one that got away,I wish I had my other rod that day,I was on a light action frenzy everywere I went, baitfish kept swimming away, eventually the bass got it head first but when I set the hook I pulled it out its mouth

I use cut bait catfishing for big blues. I usually go catch some gar or carp from the river and filet a couple right there then throw the remains back in the water for the turtles and bottom feeders to use up.
I take the cut bait home and cut it into slices about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long and leave it pretty thick. I put those into a zip-lock bag with about 4 table spoons of garlic salt and shake it up good. Then I put the in the refrigerator overnight and use it the next day.
If I am not going fishing the next day I just freeze it until I need it. A lot of times if I am catching big 8lb-10lb carp, drum or gar I'll go ahead and keep 4 or 5 and make several bags and freeze them for use later. I catch almost all my giant blue cats on this type of bait.
I even catch a lot of channel and Flathead this way even though I prefer to use live bait if I am purposely targeting Flathead.
There ya go, and to add, I have caught Large-mouth Bass and other species of fish using my cut bait technique but it's rare.

Thanks for that pro tip, were any of the bass skinny that you caught on the cut bait?I also caught a Peackockbass from down here on freshly caught cut bait, also at night.I like to use the cut bait from a freshly caught baitfish,I leave the skin on one side, scale it and leave the heart still beating in the piece of cut bait,so fish can pickup on the frequency of the heart while its still pumping.[#4040ff]Paulpro Fl.mod [/#4040ff]knows fishing like Bo knows baseball..[inline IMG_0129.JPG]my My 12' aluminum v hull at the Hammocks lake and a Jersey fisherman Nick

Cutbaits work great for every catfish except the one i have yet too catch. Im still
trying too bag my 1st flathead cat. Been having problems keeping caught fish alive from time of capture-transport-then actually putting them on the hook. They basically die too quick. Being as all my fishing is pop-up spare of the moment when i can get a ride, planning a bait day then a fishing day is hard.
I have a 150 gallon rubbermaid stock tank stored that i am going too use for my baby alligator snapping turtle when it gets bigger. But for next summers little DIY project, i may turn it into a small scale perch/brim breeding/holding tank. sand bottoms, with layers of driftwood and some underwater growing elephant ears. Will have too put some research time in but if i get around too it i will post some pics and explain what i did.
Btw Paulpro, that 22inch bass you landed was a nice catch!

When ive fished the brackish waters for red fish, ive had good luck with a decent size cork and a 4-6 inch. live or dead mullet (can cast net these by the buckle full if you catch it 1st thing in the morn). Cast out then gradually pop the cork towards you with a few second delay between pops and line retrieval. Same tech. can be used
bassfishing just smaller scale and with shiners.

Thanks,it seems like its getting rarer and harder to find nice bass these days,my second 5lber for the lake this year..Man, you would'nt believe some of the baitfish down here. The freshwater red jewell ciclhids and the myan cichlids can survive being fished in the bay, manytimes I bring them back to the pond even after being hooked[shocked] lol.. i always hold the belief that catching fish with fish is easier to make it than with other lures. i wonder if i am right. i use the live bait for river fishing. It is workable.[fishin][laugh]
