Well I got a little statistics test For a class and hopefully its not a problem to use our members for a little information gathering.

So which one do you do?

No need to post why or why not. That is a can of worms I don't think any of us want to open up. We all have our own reasons for the way we fish ect and we should respect others reasons and uses as much as our own.

Not really enough choices in the poll, IMO. I occasionally keep Rainbows and Cuts, but I keep a lot of panfish, and I keep a lot of Brook Trout. So it depends on the type of fish.

Maybe the phrasing of the choices is part of the assignment, sway the user base into answering a certain way (and I can delete this if that is the purpose Wink )

Good luck on your class. Frankly, I hated statistics!

Iwantabuggy, I am about the same way. I eat mostly pan fish and small brookies, so I figured that I am mostly C&R with an occasional meal or two. I think the categories cover most of the range, but aren't going to be exact fits for most people. So I just chose the one that is probably closest.

Nope, no try to sway. I just didn't want to have to figure in it based of types of fish, would have to have pan fish, trout, salmon, ( think you get the point). Little more simple this way. Also not really interested in it based off of types of fish, just peoples view on keeping fish.

One of the interesting things about the poll with a warm water vs cold water tint is it could give F&G more info on what people want. Do we want planter trout that the F&G hands out as they see fit or do we want naturally reproducing warm water fish?
I don't mind eating trout from Strike if they are in the 17" to 20" range. Those same trout in salmon falls creek res are likely to have large sores on them and I don't eat them if they have those.

I'll be interested in the results. I kept about 20 smallmouth from the Snake this year. That was of about 1500 that I caught. I only keep fish between 12-13" for an occasional meal. I hate to see people keep smallmouth that are in the 17-20 inch range since it takes so long for one to get that size and they are such great fish.

A year ago I even talked a good fisherman I occassionally see on the river into releasing an beautiful 18" smallie. When I next saw him on the river he told me that he had promised God that he would let every smallmouth over 18" go back to live a full life. He was serious.

I agree it would 100% But thats not where I am going with it or even want to go with it. Merely need simple data for a project that involves, a sample group, type of sample, data, confidence levels ect. Merely a stats deal here folks. Nothing more nothing less.

Interesting. I keep tons of Kokanee but never keep a steelie, trout or panfish unless it's bleeding out. I do like my share of Ocean Salmon and Halibut with some Rockfish thrown in!
