my buddy and i went out and did some deer hunting tuesday morning and drove around to a few of the local lakes to check them out on our way in between properties. Spring valley res. doesnt even look close to having any ice. we drove over to winchester and it has some ice on the edges but not very much. it does however look like the water is starting to thicken up! so im excited for that. then we drove up to soldiers meadow and it actually had some pretty good chunks of ice on it. the middle was open but all the coves were iced up. im thinking in about two weeks soldiers meadow will be fishable. ill be up deer hunting in that area quite a bit so ill be able to check it regularly.

Sweet! thanks for the update! Do you know if there are smallies in soldiers meadows? I'm trying to think of places to add species... I wonder if you can get to waha in the winter.... anybody tried it?

Soldiers meadow has largemouth. not sure about smallies there but i have been told there are none. and waha is not safe to ice fish on even if it does ice over.
