I called Pat and asked if he wanted to take me fishing today since my boat motor is sick. He said yes. We launched today at 10:00 from Tyner Lane. It was foggy for a while, so we didn't move too far. We fished off a point near a dropoff and I managed to land our first 2 crappie. Two other guys appeared out of the fog and were fishing between us and the bank, so we decided to go look for other places to fish.

We motored over to Harrison Bay area. I really wanted to see if we could see any stripers busting anywhere, so we gull watched and when we saw them diving, we headed in their direction, but another boat beat us to the spot. The birds had already quit diving when we got there anyway, so we fan cast for a while and then decided to try the bridge for crappie. Nada bite there.

I talked Pat into running to a bluff where I caught some nice fish the other day, but when we got out there, we realized that TVA was pulling 65,000 cfs and that made fishing that spot nearly impossible, so we went back to the Waconda Bay area to crappie fish. We got on a drop and started fishing. For a few minutes, we didn't get a single bite. I had told Pat that the major feeding period began at 12:25 to 2:25 pm.

Then suddenly, I had a bite, set the hook and proceeded to bring the fish in. Pat hooked up at the same time. We netted mine, a 15.0 inch beautiful Black Crappie. That made my 18th tarp of the year. Pales in comparison to what the KID has done this year, but nevertheless a great fish. Pat's fish was about 13". We released the TARP and kept the other one. I looked at my watch and it was 12:25 exactly. The fish were right on que. The bite was on for about 45 minutes. We ended up with 12 crappie, 2 spotted bass, 2 yellow bass, 1 pet drum, and a nice 2.75 lb largemouth bass.

Lots of boat traffic today. Many big boats going downtown for the parade of lights. They went around us and didn't bother us at all. There was a lot of fishermen out today too. We saw 2jigs and a friend of Pat's from East Ridge. Good to talk to you guys today.

I fished with a 2" Blue Thunder Baby Shad all day. Never did put anything else on. It was the hottest lure. But Pat finally put some lures on that had blue in them and he started catching fish too. He caught the largemouth bass, the white bass, 1 yellow bass, and a few crappie. I landed the drum. emoBigSmile

Thanks for taking an old emoGeezer out fishing today, Pat. We will do this again before you tuck tail and run to sunny Florida.
