Put in around 1:30 fished till 5. Water temp was around 40 deg and I heard the backwaters is around 32 and a little ice on the edges.

I fished the east side till the bouy at Big Sand Bay and the across to the West side. Nothing utill I crossed over then I had 2 hits on my new crappie imitation[Smile]

but nothing untill I got to Lucas Point when a 18" rainbow slamed my fly and nearly pulled my rod in[cool], I had laid it down[:p]

Saw 2 other boats, one a nice troller all cabined up, and a good friend who had went to the back waters a found trout shallow. We both saw a ton of we believe is crappie suspened and tried to jig with our flies while we visited. He had to hits but nothing got hooked.

I have to still get in the water to get in the boat so I wore my sock footed hip boatsand 3 hours in the toes were getting cold, not sure what to do but I think I will find some booted hip boots so they aren't as tight and I can wear some warmer socks.

I had thought I would be putting the boat up but now I think as long as it's not too breezy I will be going out in the boat till the ice stops me, then It's on to ice fishin[cool][fishin]

Thanks for the great report. That is a place that has always interested me. I guess I can't live close to all the good fishing.

Nice looking fish [cool] i have never found a boot foot wader that keeps my feet warm yet. I just went with some neoprene and then a couple pair of heavy socks under them and a shoe that is a few sizes to big

Really nice fish!

It is hard to find any kind of wader with a large enough foot pocket to wear heavy socks to stay warm and also be able to walk in the boot.
