Been wanting to go fish Little Camas and finally made it today. There was a bit of snow and ice, and some mud heading in, but no problems. However, the reservoir is frozen except for a small area in the center. Way to thin for you hard water types. I was sure it would still have open water. Oh well, at least I filled up at Costco for 3.22 a gallon, or I would be somewhat depressed! Mike

Yes, thanks for the report. That's one place I'd like to hit this year.

I drove by it this weekend and it has more water than I've seen for a long time. If we can get one more good water year and keep that pond filed up, there are going to be some big fat fish in there. I talked to a few guys who were bank yanking Magic at Hot Springs Landing and they had caught a few but said it was slow. I ended up fishing the Big Wood and it was average - streamers were working better than nymphs.

I was also surprised, Eric. It seems to have come up since late summer. I remember years ago after a long drought period during which Little Camas was nearly empty for several years, that when it came back up it was phenomenal for several years. I remember the Fish and Game saying it was such great fishing for large fish because it was the same as a new reservoir, in which the fishing is always best the first few years. I don't know if that thinking is accurate or not, but either way it has got to be better than it has been. I am glad to see the F & G planting it heavily. I thought about heading to Magic when I saw the ice, but am glad I didn't after reading your report. Thanks for the info. Mike
