Cold days, colder nights - several days in a row. As long as the wind don't bust us up - we should be seeing some action.

Was gonna run up to Hyrum, but with the snow-blizzard moving in all of a sudden - guess I'm NOT taking the boat out this afternoon!

It's always a city of tents anyways. That's why that pond turns off after the first month or so of ice.

Was gonna see if you wanted to drive down there with me this eve or maybe tomorrow to check it out. This cold weather will help out a ton.

I'm hoping for next weekend. I need to catch some fish. I'd love to get a good report being that I'm stuck in slc. Way to much gas for a quick check. I'm so desperate to catch a fish I'm thinking old pulling out the fly rod for one more ice cold trip tomorrow. Thanks for getting me worked up for it.[angelic]

Don't waste the gas I drive by for times today for work by three o'clock there was only a little ice on the East end about 95% open water.

Just drove by Mantua and she looks to be probably 90% capped. The cold spell tonight should finish it off nicely.

Just depends how many of these real cold nights we get, and how much wind we 'don't get'.

Guessing it will be safe ice by Fri or Sat depending on above factors.

Last year it froze overnight (for explanation, just say it was Tuesday night), and we fished it two mornings later (that would be Thursday). But like lava said, depends on temps and lack of wind. The temps won't be the problem from the looks of the forecast. Hopefully the wind holds off.

So does anyone know if the pea soup crap disappeared in the late fall? I wouldn't think those conditions would be favorable for ice fishing either.

Thermometer registered about 10 this morning. My pup's decided our pond is safe to slip around on. Almost grabbed the auger for a thickness test this weekend...

I'd be pretty sure the pea soup is gone with the colder water. The weeds die back too - but not completely. There was a big bloom of bugs last year - some sort of pink larvae floating all over.
