i couldnt make it up too deer creek yesterday so i decided to hit a spot on utah lake that has some hot springs that ive got into the crappie before in years past. got out to the spot at about 9 am the wind was blowing and it was pretty cold. but i was determined to catch atleast some white bass if the crappie didnt want to play. I started out usin 1/8 oz green tube jig just slowly working back through the outsides of the springs, not a bite. i worked at that for 45 min or so, then i decided to change up rigs so i reeled in fast about 2 feet below the surface and got bite."missed it" tried that same thing again and nothing. so it got me thinkin that the crappie were suspended about 2 feet below the surface in about 10 feet of water. so i decided to put on my ice fishing Hali's lure and suspend about 2 feet below a slip bobber and it was game on. in the next hour that i was there i manged to yank out 24 crappie for they fryer the biggest being around 10 1/2 inches but the average was 8 or 9. i also let go a ton of unkeepable size crappie in the 3 to 5 inch range. all in all it worked out for me. i was also suprised not to get any white bass out there, cause that spot for me has been know to have consistent14 to 15 inch wb.

Are you talking about just a Hali spoon, with the chain and hook, or another lure?

Nice going. I've run into that too - change in tempo, size, speed, offering - and it's game on. One time the bobber just didn't do it - they wanted to see that jig swimming past, then they slammed it!

ya i was just using a hali spoon with a chain and a wax worm on the hook. ill pm on the hot springs spot that i was at.
