Greetings,

Wow was it windy today was the first on the ice at Roberts with 90% of the pond covered with 4'' of solid clear ice; the causeway still has open water and it was filled with geese. Fished in the deepest spot; you die hards will know where I am talking[Wink] Tried to set up the ice cube, but it was so slick and the wind so fast I began taking a ride, so I quickly just packed it back up. The fishing was really slow at 3:30, and I thought it was going to be a one fish bust, but by 4:30 it picked up and I iced ten perch and one trout 8'' using 1/64 once green jigs tiped with a small piece of mealie. Now the conditions were brutal, so I can not say if Roberts is back or not from last years disapointment, but if the wind was calm and I had my shelter up I bet I woul have iced 30-40, as I usually just watch the perch bite and set the hook.

The biggest fact is that they are as small as always; I filleted every one and if I got one ounce of meat I would be shocked. I am posting a pic to make you all jealous, you guys coming from all over the state to fish Henry's will probably extend your stays one day just to fish this amazing place.[sly]

I do hope it is back lots of kids learn to ice fish here.

Best,

Please do not post pics like that. I am now tempted to start missing church for fish like that.[laugh]

Makes me think The Big Mud must be about fishable!

Mackay can't be far behind!

I am sure that the rest of the perch in there appreciate the reduction of the competition. Good on you to take the time to fillet those little buggers. It sure takes a lot of them at that size to make a good meal, but they sure do taste great.

I fished it on Tuesday to test out my new underwater camera and caught a whole bunch of those little buggers. They sure look a lot bigger when they swim right in front of the camera. It was my first outing for the year and I just wanted to catch something. I also managed one trout. I wish they would get a little bit bigger.

Wow! A 6" perch from Roberts! It's practically a pond record! [Wink]

That is definitely one place that could use a couple of tiger muskie. Maybe even just one would do it.
