Anybody checked out the ice on Holmes Creek yet?
It is usually one of the first places I hit each winter, but I bet its still a little early.
Come on Ice! I've got the itch.
Here fishy,fishy,fishy
P.S. good luck to all on the Ice Fishing Challenge-- I'm betting the winner will be the one with the biggest Tiger Muskie--I have never caught one -but hoping that will change this year
.--Signing off till next time

and channel cats, and non-white bass (LM?), bluegill even?
I've heard the same rumors, but can't prove it by me.
But that's what rumors are good for. Blindly spreading!
Have heard that ponds was quite a diverse lil' fishery. Low water years, and then becoming a community pond - stocked with channels-n-trout, it all went downhill.
Now that it's NOT a community pond - maybe the other species can make a comeback. Harvest all the slimy trout you can! Do the bass a favor!
oh lmb. dont know where i herd the wb thing but, it would be a cool little lake if it could get back out track with the other species. i dont mind the cats in there. i heard the lake is best accesed throught the ice. ive never fished it before so ill maybe give it a try this winter. thanks for the info coyotespinner.

We did ok there a few years ago for White bass over on the sandy area by the dam with a worm clear bobber rig. Also tons of planter bows. That place seems to change quick and now that it is off of the list, we will see what happens next.

To me the planted trout ruined it.
I have caught VERY big bass out of there, and personally caught walleye, LM, bluegills, crappies, bullheads, and channel cat out of there.
But the last 5 years, I only catch planted bows and channels.

Sorry - didn't mean to say there WEREN'T whities in there, so much as I thought there were largemouth as well. But there's a lot of what's "been" in there against what "is" in there.
Check some of the old posts. There's been some history of fish. I think part of the challenge is there's no floats or boats, and shore access is pretty tough - which makes it good for the fish, but . . . then there's the ice, and the all access pass!

Good luck. Would love to hear of good ice conditions. It's right next to granmas, and I'd love to drag my nephew/bro-n-law out!
Yes in the good ole days you could expect to catch a variety of species out of there-but alas those were the good ole days and they are gone.
The reason I like Holmes -its secluded, close to home and can give some very fast action for slimers.

P.S. Something pulled my catfishin pole in a few years back and she still lies in the depths as far as I know.
