Worried about possible fog, Sport and I drove to Soddy to put in at Holly Circle
boat ramp, and do the crappie tournament. What a great ramp and parking area!
Wish Wolftever ramp was that nice. Most of the big crappie are going to be near deep
water. That is where Sport and I fished, action was slow to start. We needed 10 big ones.
Sport catches our first good crappie, 1 1/2 lber. I follow with a pig tarp #69, 14 3/8 in.,
2.02 lb. Next cast I get smashed again, I'm hollering at Sport to get the net. Another pig,
an identical twin at that, Tarp#70, 14 3/8 in, 2.02 lb. What a great start! Wind got stiff and colder,
as the day went. We ran a lot of water, went deep again, where Sport caught 3 good ones in a row,
to give us 10 nice ones. We culled 5 more times, to get a solid stringer of 10. Finished at 12:30,
to go to weigh-in. I wasn't sure we had a big enough sack to win, there were a couple of heavy hitters
in the field we had to get past. We had 14.90 lbs., 2lbs. in the clear, and big fish at 2.02 lbs. for
the win. Thanks Jerry for putting on a great tourney! The pig twins and their friends were released.
