Thanks alot, yes I am truly blessed to live here. There is quite a variety within a few hours either way. I have never ice fished pali
es but have caught browns and cuts there on softwater. It will be nice wether I catch a fish or not.
Oh by the way.....nice brook trout on Henrys lake! Sorry I never caught up with ya, I didn't have alot of time to fish so I took every opportunity I could.

Couldnt find the kokes or a forked tail demon. Ice is good. 6 to 7 inches with very little snow on top. Even better, the shore is solid. Good luck. Im hoping to get up there sunday also.

Hey ovidcreek, I was wondering......
How long of a plank do I need for getting out on good ice when the edges are bad, something I can use all winter. I got a 2" x 12" x 12' and Im wondering if I can cut it down to save on some weight?

Went to pali
es today and almost all of it is open water. The big elk creek side is frozen with 5-8inches in almost all of it. I fished from 1st light till 4pm and caught one cut and had another bite but not sure what it was. I saw alot of suckers on the camera but they weren't interested in my bait, even when I switched to worms. The locals that I talked to said that pali
es usually doesn't freeze till jan-feb so I guess I will wait till later to return.

Hey outdoorsman,
we had a slow but fun day out at elk creek too!
we landed chubs and suckers...
we used worms on jig hooks
no need to take boards to get on ice....nice and solid.
I managed to land what I believe is a Splake??????
can anyone confirm?
I almost landed his brother but he shook off at the hole...this was the first time ever that I have ever Ice fished....using the vexilar was new to us and by the end of the day we were have a blast using it....it's probably more entertaining with a camera....

Picture is small, so it is hard to tell, but it looks like a lake trout. I don't think they have ever stocked splake in there, but I haven't looked it up either.
Nice fish anyway!
