Put in about 10:30 at CFP. Went looking for some active birds and hooked up with a nice LM on 2nd cast. I had pulled in on the birds not too far from a boat that was already there. I was well out of casting range, but i think they did not appreciate my coming on their birds. I feel like fishing under the birds boats will be a little closer than normal. Anyway they didn't want to exchange any fishing talk, so sorry if i was too close to you. Picked up a couple more nice LM there and then moved to another area that had some birds working.

Got a 5.5# LM on the "secret bait" and marked lots of fish and bait. About this time cast4bass and his son Jack arrived and we talked a bit while we fished. C4B hooked up on a nice 20#+ Striper that gave him a good tussle. I added an assist by neting the fish for him from my boat and then flopping the net and fish on his front deck. Great fish and good fight.

Another boat came into the area trolling an umbrella rig and he had a hookup immediately, he was close to my boat and I could see he was having problems with a hand/wrist that had 30 stiches under the bandage and was not healed yet. I asked if he would like me to land the fish and he said yes and moved over and handed me the rod. Pretty good fish on and I asked what test line (braid) and he said 80#, so should be able to land the fish, lol. It was a 16.75# Striper so I "landed" 3, but only one on my rod. Very strange day.

I caught another4# LM and then had a good whack on a swimbait that turned out to be a 9 1/2# Striper. Had another good hit and Jack jinxed me by saying he hoped it was a drum. It was, lol.

Action slowed and I ran downriver to another area that had been holding some Stripers. Saw some birds working hard and missed a hookup immediately, couple of other boats landed some nice Stripers. They seem very plentiful on the lower lake this year. Saw Spur and his crew and they were wearing out the Stripers. A fun day on the water, quit about 3:30.

Regards, Labman
