I'm sure some of you know of Paul Res, north of Spencer, west of Monida. In the early 80's my dad worked on rebuilding the damn there,he took me with him and I spent the summer fishing the endless beaver ponds for Brookies, as I remember the reservoir it's self had some pretty good sized Brook Trout in it, 3-4 lbs. Just wondering if anybody has ever fished it through the ice, I'm sure you would need a snowmobile to get to it.

I have fished at Paul reservoir for about 20 years and can't remember catching a single brookie in the lake itself. In the creeks below the reservoir there are a lot of little brookies. There used to be some very nice cutts in there but I think it gets a lot more pressure than it used to. I have thought about ice fishing there but never found anyone with access to a snowmobile that thought it was worth the effort. I would be very interested to know how you did if you end up going.

No doubt you are right about the big fish in the lake being cutt's, I never caught anything of any size out of the res. I was just a 8 yr old kid, and I remember catching the little brightly colored fish out of the creek and being told that they were brookies. One day a old man and old woman showed up in a old white car and fished for a couple of hours and left with what seemed like a trunk full of really big fish, being a kid I assumed that they were brookies also. Not even sure what got me thinking about that place, just a flashback to the good ol days I suppose.[

Paul Res. has been on my (ice) to do list for years, I am always hoping for early ice and no snow so I can get there. With Henry's Lake though it always becomes a second thought. The last time I ever fished with a regular pole was at Paul and I caught lots of little cutts. I love places like this--and they themselves become goals for the hardest of ice fishermen.
