Fished Norton Bay today. Ice is about 6 in. in the bay and there is still open water to the west. Some open water on the south side to the west. I would not venture out to see if it was OK. If you stay in the bay area, up the arm, there is good ice. Nice and clear and singing. You will need cleets as the ice is very smooth and slick. We iced 10 nice trout and lost one pole to the fish. No bite just gone. Fished in 13 to 20 feet of water, did the best at around 17. Worms and Powerbait. None on jigs or lures.

So where do you suppose we will find the perch this year?

I am not sure. In all the years I've been fishing at SFR, I have not caught a single perch. I would like to find a walleye.

I have caught perch in the summer but not through the ice
