Yesterday hit Henrys Lake until about 2PM. It was very cold starting at -20. Started off at the State Boat ramp area. It was a little slow, but what a great lake when you can catch 15 fish by 11:00 and consider it slow.

We then moved to the cliff area where we caught another 10 fish.

White paddle bugs were really important at both places. It didn't seem like they wanted anything else. Jigging was also very important. Caught a couple on jawjackers, but the majority were caught watching the vexilar and jigging.

This morning I went with Steelfisher to Island Park. Did I say it was cold yesterday? Today it was -22. The auger wouldn't start. We ran out of propane in the first 10 minutes and I never really felt like I had warmed up from the day before. We still managed to catch 8 rainbows. Steelfisher caught a nice one right before we picked up to go. Seemed like we were still catching them on white. I was hoping for a big kokanee but it was not to be. Maybe next time.

Where were you fishing on Island Park ? Curt Gianchetta

Off the point by the dam. We thought about trying over by the boat ramp, but decided against it. The bite was so early we didn't have time to move before it was over.

Yeah the bite dies by 9:30 to 10 am. The point area would be your best bet for Kokes I'm thinking. Wish someone would catch a few!!!

Yup, white was good. Was that you Thurs with your kids straight out from the state boat ramp? Had a feeling it was but didn't make it over to say hi.

Best areas for kokes this year has been the narrows east of the boat dock, on the north shore across from the boat ramp or west of the point by the dam. But none have been fast fishing. Seven kokes in three trips.

Had an awesome morning at Henry's. Took my wife's 80 year old grandad who had never been ice-fishing before. White and chartreuse paddle-bugs with a peice of nightcrawler were the ticket. We got going about 6:30 and by 9am had around 12 on the ice, none under about 20 inches. We lost a few at the hole also, and cut some lines on the ice. It was awesome being able to land so many nice fish. By 10am we were in the truck, headed home with our limits. What a day.
