I think the fish are in shock or something[crazy]. but i didnt get skunked. Trout is all we pulled through the ice. all under 14". will try it again later on this week got lots of new toys to try out headed out to mantua in the morning. hope to catch some gill or something other than trout.

Thanks for the report. Is the east end of the pond still open water? Thank you. J

Nope. The east end had 6" or so of ice the other day. Even a guy was riding his 4-wheeler out there. It is good clear ice too. Bite was slow with not many trout over 10". We hope to find more Monday.

Sweet that is good news. I probably will stay off a week or so till I dare ride a wheeler from the state park to the top end so I can take some family that I wouldn't dare take a chance with. Wish they could hike the hill but it's getting a little tough on me with all my junk I try to take with me. Anyway thanks a bunch for the info I'll see ya on the ice soon. Later J

Hey K! That's awesome news. Ben - thanks for the followup - I definitely prefer the east inlet under ice.

Did you try fishing just off the bottom, or would the frisky planter bows not let you drop that far?

So - Ben - no panfish for you? Can't wait to hit my honeyspots and get on a big school of (little) perch. I got JUST the net for em!!!!

OK - so maybe New Years Day will be my first trip to Hyrum this year! Wish I could join you guys out there now. Instead - I'm gonna go see Dinosaurs!!!

I know bluegill 'exist' in that lake, but I think I've only been visited by one. Anyone know where the gills hang out at Hyrum? (PM welcome - if you're willing. Be glad to share my perch experiences)
