how has everyone on big fish been?It has been a long time since I have been back up here but I was able to come home for a visit and my bro-in-law and I are wanting to go do some burbot fishing on tuesday. I was wondering what the ice is like up north and what the conditions have been like. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as well. I believe my bro- in-law had mentioned fire hole. Firehole has been frozen for a month or so but you better have a power auger if you head up there[
]. There have been some reports of Lost Dog being frozen as well but a week ago someone drown somewhere below the Confluence and above Buck board, so be careful if you fish too far down lake.

we ended up going by firehole and the burbot fishing was horrible, but the mack fishing was amazing. It took me a while to get dialed in, but in the end between three of us we caught 24+, All in all a good day on the ice.

Good to hear you did well on the macks, was there any size to them? Yea, Firehole is usually good with first ice for the ling but slows way down within a few weeks. Did you fish for the ling after dark?

Most of the macks were in the 16- 22 inch range and we fished for the ling until around 10 oclock with only one dink ling coming in to play. It was nice to get on the ice. Now back to sunny southern california and back to the grind.
