There are actually quite a few on Jordanelle. Multiple local Bass clubs hold one or two, Utah bass Federation usually holds a couple open tournaments and Ultimate Bass Team Tour will be having I believe three on Jordanelle this year. UBTT is a team circuit you would need to find a teammate for the season. www.ultimatebassteams.com is their website.

Typically do you need to belong to a club to fish a tournament? I was just hoping my buddy and I could sign up at the gate for a tournament.

Usually you would, yes. An "open" tournament you would not need to belong to a club or an organization, you may need to pre register however. Boat ramp sign ups make it a nightmare for the tournament directors some won't even allow it as sometimes it can delay blast off. I would look into finding a Open tournament. I myself have not seen any on tap for 2012, but I don't think the two state federations have solidified their schedules.
On a side note a lot of smaller tournaments have gone away due to the excess time and cost of dealing with obtaining state COR permits to hold tournements legally.Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Usually club dues are fairly cheap... like 25 to 30 bucks a year. Some clubs require to attend a certain amount of meetings per year to maintain member status, others do not. Our club (Big City Bass) there really is no commitment but you do have to be a club member to fish club tournaments. There are more clubs than the one I am in for sure, i am not trying to sell you on our club. Deseret Bass, Salt City Bass are two other clubs that come to mind. Certain clubs also are affiliated to either FLW or BASS. If you are interested in fishing state tournaments you would need to join one of these two organizations depending on what tournament you want to fish.

There are two Federations in the state, FLW and BASS. Both Federations have websites. The Bass Federation ( FLW) url is utahbassfederation.org . For the Federation Nation Link, go to BASS.org and connect to the Federation Nation link there to the Utah BASS Federation Nation link. Most of the clubs in the state are affiliated with one or the other, and many are affiliated with both.
