I have this Mitchell 300 Exellence reel, it was my dads, but do to some
major issues, he will not be getting it back. Thing is he lost the entire reel handle a few years ago trying to fix it or something. Then never got it back on.

Well I ended up getting one of those ready2fish reel/rod combos for Christmas, and after looking at it, I decided to see if the handle from that reel would fit on the Mitchell. To my surprise, it was a perfect fit, all I have to do is spray paint that handle black ( it's metallic orange and doesn't look to great but works like a dream.)

Anyways I kind of want some history on this Mitchell, along with a few questions answered. I'm really not to sure how old it is, or what years these got manufactured, I'm assuming it's got some age on it. I know I always wanted it when I saw my dad use it, I think it was one of the only reels he used for my entire time, along with the Shimano he gave me.

So let's go with basics I guess.

Estimated how old is this reel?
Can you buy replacement spools or extra spools? (I like to change line wieight a lot, but I don't really want to reline every trip)
Can somebody tell me the specs on this? (gear ratio preferably i keep getting 5.25-5.5:1)
Replacement parts site(s)?

Other then that, right now, I'm disassembling it, cleaning it out, relubing the entire thing to get a brand new feel back in it, and to hopfully preserve it as long as I can.

Thank you.

If I misplaced this thread and a mod moves it, would you be kind enough to private message me the location thank you.

The old Mitchells were great... back in their day.
When I was a kid my dad gave me a 300 and he had a 330, which had an awesome quick release bail on it.
I know they were made back in the 60s or so. I've bought lots of 330s and parts off Ebay, you can find them anytime.

you can count the geer ratio,

look at the bail if it is open face or take the cover off the front if it is closed face and count the number of times is spins around for one crank. that is your geer ratio.
