Hit the rockport sun along with everyone else in slc. fished out from the marina,caught one fish in 4 hours between four of us. weather was great lots of sunshine. didnt look like people around us were having much luck. maybe berry next sunday might not be as crowded. the guy at the country store told us only one tagged fish came in but the tagged was missing. sounds like my kind of luck. good luck be careful!

FYI just to try and help you increase you catch rate, next time just get away from all the crowds, We fished there this weekend and caught 17 or so, fishing in the center of the lake. IMO too much noise on the ice can keep the fish away and decrease your catch rate. Hope that helps and thanks for posting your report. One of our members reported catching a trout with a hole where a tag had been, makes me wonder if someone else caught it and pulled the tag out but did not know about the contest[:/].

thanks for the info. didnt see to many people fishing in the middle of the lake,you were right about getting away from the crowd we usually do. It was a lazy day,just great to get away. glad to hear you guys did well. It wont be long and some of those tagged fish will get caught. I think i better hit the threadmill before going to sulphur creek derby tough winter lol.

Don't worry about the treadmill. When you come up to the Sulphur Derby, I will either be on a snow machine or a 4 wheeler and will be taking people and their gear out onto the lake (any part you want). Just flag me down and point where you want to be and I'll get ya there. We also allow people to bring their own transportation onto the ice for the derby if you have one, either 4 wheeler, snow machine, or scooter if you can get that going. Fishing has been great so far this winter at Sulphur.

We usually walk out to our spot at sulphur creek. But i will take you up on the ride. We were thinking about bringing our atv but the last time we went to naughton derby we needed a wyoming permit. Might be a hassle at 500 am in the morning. Looking forward to meeting you folks up there. Also a couple of trips on the ice will get us back in shape. Noting like walking in 10inchs of slush for a workout in late utah ice fishing.
