For some reason lately, the adds on my screen are for puerto rican brides and cougar.com and crap like that, what the hell. I though this was a fishing website.

Hey, their just trying to hook ya.. lol [Wink]

Anyone that knows me realizes I have zero problem with Eye candy if not on a web site my G-kids visit. I have put an end to them visiting BFT until the problem is solved and I suggest all those concerned with what their kids / g-kids see on the web do the same.
MHO,, No longer is BFT family safe.

so your saying cougar.com did not wokr out for ya? ok ill try omne of the other ones,. thanks!

Google based marketing sites, (like what BFT uses) detects recent searches and previous viewed websites and then promotes those type of products/services on other sites you visit that uses Google.

Hell, I've already got one, I wouldn't know what to do with two, throw in a puerto rican bride and I wouldn't be worth a crap for a week![Wink]

I don't that for a second. Never have i searched that kind of material. Especially on my work computer! Something else is the problem, not recent searches. Unless i am proven wrong i don't believe that. No one knows my search history better than well..... ME.

What the crap I never get to see these ads..[crazy][:/][mad]

Clean your temp internet files & cookies or get a program cleaner like CCleaner to clean them for you. Then depending on the browser ( IE, Firefox, Chrome) get a ad blocker plugin like adblock plus.

I'll have to try something, nothing like the owner walking by and saying "nice tits" as they flash across the computer screen.

I hear ya an ad blocker should stop them for showing up. I use google chrome with ad blocker plus and when the ad blocker is running all the ads are blank white box.

fishingutefan is correct on how the ads work on BFT and even though you don't visit those type of sites, it does not mean that other don't. I have posted a thread about this problem on the main Mod board, if there are others that feel the same, you need to respond to this thread, so we can tell have many member don't want to see these type of ads.

It looks like there is something we can do about this problem, here is what the owner of the site said:
[#0000ff]Hello WH2,
Those ads are sold by a partnership with google, we can weed out certain ads and are willing to review them if members can tell us which sites they are for and all the ads should have a url on the bottom blue section of the ad so they will not have to click them to find out who they are for. If we see "non family freindly ads we do remove them" but not all dating sites fall under that catagory so please keep in mind that advertising is how this company makes it's money and that unless an ad is deemed in poor taste or goes to a website that is inappropriate we have not been removing them.

That all being said, based on region, what page a user is on etc... many users see different ads so PLEASE LET MEMBERS KNOW TO GATHER AS MUCH INFORMATION WITHOUT HAVING TO CLICK ON THE AD AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN ADD THEM TO A "DO NOT ADVERTISE LIST".[/[/#0000ff]quote]
I don't see any of those ads right now but please respond to this thread with the URL, the next time you see one that doesn't look good, thanks.

Believe me or not but google knows more about you than you do! [sly] If you are researching to buy a mountain lion tag or go mountain lion hunting or looking into BYU future football schedule, it may misunderstand your search intentions and bring up adds for you to date hot 40+ year olds.

Interesting... Thanks for the heads up on that. Never thought of it that way..

Online marketing software and social media are extremely nice to have but scary at the same time. Brings whole new definition to "big brother is watching!"

Google tracks your IP address and stores every search you make in that little white box

http://www.google.com/privacy/faq.html

Why does Google store search engine logs data? We store this data for a number of reasons. Most importantly, we store data to improve our search results and to maintain the security of our systems. Analyzing logs data helps our engineers both improve your search quality and build helpful innovative services......

Heres another interesting tidbit

How often are you asked by governments to provide data on users? Like other technology and communications companies, we receive requests from government agencies around the world to provide information about users of our services and products. To help increase transparency about these requests we have created the Government Requests Tool, which shows the number of requests that we have received that relate primarily to criminal investigations.

I saw another one of those ads today, and was able to get the URL from it. I told the owner about it and he had it stopped. Here is the URL, is it one that your boss/owner made a comment about?

I'll delete this link after I read your comments, thanks.
