What would be pros and/or cons of a Jaw Jacker be over your everyday tip up? Been thinking about getting one of these, but wondering if a tip up would be enough for me? Has anyone had experience with a Jacker?

I have used my tip up so many times with using the same bait I'm using withing 5 feet away non jiggin both and I haven't caught anything with it..
i got a jaw-Jacker for Christmas and I love it; I personally think the Jaw Jacker is so much nicer and user-friendly.. If you are debating on getting one I would get one i think they are well worth the money

I picked up two jaw jackers in December and have caught fish on at least one of them every time I've been out. Sometimes it just releases when a fish bumps it or something, but at least it alerts you to the fish. The con to it is the icing up issue on the front mechanism, but if you stay on top of not letting water splash on it, just trying to keep it dry then it is fine.
On another note: I bought some Jigger Totters. A guy in Nampa makes them, PM me for the info, but I actually LOVE them. They have been so crucial in detecting the light bite. I have caught more fish since having them, and wouldn't think of setting up without them again. Plus, it is impossible to lose a rig down the hold with them. I usually set up my two jaw jackers and then the jigger totters for my other lines. ....anyway, just my 2 bits.

Those Jigger Totters look like they would work great.

Have yet to land a fish off the Jacker, but I'm still pleased with the product, and am sure - given some more attention - it'll get some fish. Maybe some tip-ups do, but I don't think all are equipted with such spring action, so much as alert you that you're getting a nibble. Though I've seen mousetrap contraptions that spring, snap, and swing. Takes all kinds I guess.
So are the Jigger Totters like the Mr Jigger? (wait think I've seen them - made all of wire. If they folded - that'd be awesome! Bit taller maybe? Or extendable feets?
I been propping mine up on something... was thinnin to make some, but taller. Maybe add a "wind-booster" for added jig-action (pinwheel?).

Pretty similar to this Mr. Jigger device, except all wire, which I like because you can shove the leg down through snow or slush or whatever if the surfaceis uneven. I would agree that having them fold would be a nice improvement and a bit taller, but the height doesn't bother me any. Definitely good to have on that soft bite.

Buddy of mine I went fishing with last week had the jaw jackers and he was catching fish off of them. I never saw his freeze or have any problems. Looks to me like the pros of it are once you set it up you don't have to mess with it anymore and every time it went off he had a fish hooked on it and the fish did not get away. From the looks of it personally I think the best pro is that you still have your rod on it so once you hook a fish you just slide it out and land the fish how you normally would with the rod and reel. Tip ups from what I've seen don't have a very good reeling mechanism and looks to be a pain to get the fish up. Just MHO as I don't or ever or have never used a tip up. I do have other fishing buddies like the tip ups but I'll bet if they used the jaw jacker they would be sold. We have a couple of brand new jaw jackers we are giving away for prizes at the Sulphur Derby. Hopefully whoever wins them can maybe give a in-person demo.

I bought a couple of Jaw Jackers earlier this year. I have been happy with them. The kids love them. Our success has been 70 to 30 being 30 percent missed. We are trying different things all the time. We use them with the 30 inch ugly sticks medium.

Strike another vote for the jaw jacker. I have a little son and when he “loses focus” it’s nice to know that I don’t have to watch his pole. It never freezes up and when not in use it works as a pole holder.

Plus the snap of the pole when “fish on” can jolt the adrenaline real quick.
