Can any nice soul out there tell me how the ice is on the main lake with the recent cold spell? I am guessing that it froze up solid by now. Also, does anybody know if it is ok still to cross the dam to get to the Calamity boat dock or do you have to drive around?

I will be headed over to Afton tomorrow for work. I'll let you know what it "looks" like if no one else chimes in before then.

I work with a guy that was up there Tuesday, fished Big Elk on the lake side, said the ice was only 2 to 3 inches(he didn't catch anything). There was still open water out in the middle of the lake. No you can't drive over the Dam, they close it off for snow machines.[frown]

So I'm just curious, but can you get up the road at Big Elk, or are you having to park at the highway and walk over?

Its not plowed during the winter.

I just fished there about 4 days ago and saw a guy driving the road, there was a house with the lights on that morning. I wouldn't drive it without a 4 wheel drive.

How was the fishing when you were there?
