Arrived at Newton a little before 9 air temp 10*. Departure at 3 air temp was 28*. Ice is 11" again clear solid. Shorelines not problem. Drove down the ramp and parked on the shoreline...no snow at all...Ice has snow possibly 1/2" recommend spikes on boots just for safety.

Only 1 group down the reservoir and another guy with pup by the dam...they left and again we had 'da-Newt' all to our little lonesome selves...

Dubob met us on the ice...great seeing him and having a very nice time laughing and hanging out. Dubob had his quad on the ice.

Lures used were same Ants under Halis tipped with waxie or snippet of crawler or White Chroma Glow Crappie Nibblet. Started out in about 43' of water that produces last outing...but this outing Nada...I moved in to holes I punched earlier and it was fish on...moved to this location and punched 6 more holes in various areas. This time the Perch were at a depth of 38'. I checked holes from 30-35' nothing on the flasher and when I dropped the offerings down...nothing moved on the bottom so the magic Newton depth this trip was 37-38'.

For Friday the 13th my fish'n partner and I each ended up with 13 Perch each...interesting. Average size was 8.5-9". Not as large as last time but still a mess of Perch and fun to catch them ratty-tat-tat critters. Again dead sticking no fish had to have rod in hand jigging ever so slightly pause, then jig, pause and when they wanted the offering be quick and watch the spring bobber or you'd miss the hits...we missed many today.

Was a great time on the ice with Dubob a great guy and lots of fun to go fishing with.

Sounds like another great trip for ya. Going up tomorrow - first ice trip to the Newt this year. Hope we have some of your kind of luck.

Notice any blips higher up in the water column? Just wondering if the crappie are suspending around, but sounds like your pretty focused on the stripy bottom dwellers.

Gonna try using your "X" marks the spot approach.
Thanks for the info on the ramp and edges, had wondered - but you've confirmed - we'll be fine launching there. Thanks.
nicely done them there look like a godo fish fry!
