My dad, friend, and I hit mill meadow this past weekend hoping to get into the perch. We decided to go Friday night and fish around until late that night just looking for where the fish were at. We had studied up on perch and found that they don't bite at night. We found this to be true. We caught some trout at night, but no perch. The funny thing was as soon as it turned light in the morning, the perch were on. We fished from 7pm - 10pm Friday night and then went back Saturday from 5:30am - 1pm. We caught about 110 fish between the 3 of us. Probably 60% perch and 40% trout. The trout were fast action first thing in the morning and then the perch would come and go after sun up. We did not have to move around much. We only drilled 4 holes each, more or less. We fished on the west bank straight across from the boat ramp. We just looked for a rocky spot on the bank and fished out from that in 18 feet of water. All fish were on the bottom. Hope this helps anyone planning to hit Mill Meadow.
I planned on posting pictures, but got through filleting half the perch when I realized I forgot to take pictures.
Also, used my new humminbird flasher, and that is the absolute greatest invention ever made. Ice fishing just became a video game. I beleive that the flasher helps catch more fish without a doubt. I don't think I can ever fish without it.
