Just wondering what lakes west of Evanston are within the boundaries of Deseret Land and Livestock (i.e. inaccessible to the public) there are a few lakes in that area and i was wondering if any of them were accessible to the public and if they even had any fish in them. examples.... suttons reservoir, shearing corral reservoir, crane reservoir, saleratus reservoirs 1,2,and 3, neponset reservoir, woodruff reservoir, birch creek reservoir, and the blue grass pond. quite a bit of water up there.

Woodruff and Birch are accessible and hold fish. There are a lot of good Woodruff folks on here, that would know those boundaries really well. I will see if I can find out on any of the others. Welcome to the site.

Everything on your list except BC and Woodruff is on Deseret Land. Here is a map you can check out:

If you decide to use this map, do me a favor and don't zoom out too far. I don't want to be responsible for what happens when you see how much of the state that place takes up.

I don't know why the National Forest boundary was put clear over there, but it was. I found a map of that area here: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCU...090532.pdf and you can see pretty clearly that the area in question is not forest service property. I think the hunt boundary probably contains some small pieces of public land, nothing big enough to hold a reservoir though Smile

Like EL Matador said everything you listed except Birch Creek and Woodruff Creek are on DL&L. Suttons, Shearing, Crane are strictly stock and/or irrigation water, and quite often are run dry.Neponset is fed by the Bear river via a canal and will sometimes have a fish or two but not much to speak of (too shallow and warm) The Blue Grass pond is irrigation tail water and has been through so many ditches and across fields that there couldn't be much. The three Saleratus reservoirs do have fish, but they are stocked yearly due to winter die off. And yes there are alot of land under one fence approximately 260,000 acres

Sounds like you're pretty familiar with that thar ground Pilgrim[crazy]

One reason that there are some discrepancies on maps as far as boundaries are concerned,is probably because since the ranch was formed in 1890 there has been numerous owners and originally there was much more land. And there has been a lot of land swaps with private land owners in addition to the state. So depending on when a particular map was made it may show a line that is no longer correct.

If you think that's a lot of land, look what they own in Florida.

County Acres Value
Osceola 182,685.50 $763,252,812.00
Orange 64,843.57 $208,286,252.00
Brevard 41,559.66 $12,552,680.00
Hillsborough-FRI 3,952.94 $30,145,012.00
Total 293,041.67 $1,014,236,756.00

Compare that to the totals listed in the link you provided.
Private acres: 200777

Not quite 93,000 more acres in Florida than in Utah. I'm not sure of the value of the Utah land, but over a billion for the Florida ground.
