Seems how the old stste record is from the snake I figure what the heck there should be some in there the size im looking for.. I already have my arsnel figured out on what should get me into a big one just need to be pointed in the general direction on the snake.. thanks

A reputable source has recently caught browns in the 4-6 pound range on the Henry's fork lately. I can give you some better info in a pm if you want.

I have also caught a 24" brown just outside rexburg on the Henry's. I think it was more of a fluke but I think they are everywhere between the confluence outside menan up to Ashton.

I've also caught some 24 inchers on the Henry's outside of Rexburg in winter. Look for deep slow runs. They will chase a sluggish rapala, white jig, or spoon along with bait fishing. Have also seen a 6 pound brown come out of the Teton in an undisclosed location but that was during the summer.

If you could give me more info i would preciate it. And curt that is exactly what im looking for. As im looking to break my 26" mark. So i need 27" or bigger. Bigger would be awesome of course. Im just on a brown trout hunt this year I am very confident I can break my own record. I know the F&G did some electro shocking in a sertain spot and had 30+ inchers rise. The one guy said its very possible there for a new state record in that spot. As the biggest one they marked was 39" and at 39 inches as long as its nice and healthy and not spawned out its very possible to break the state record.. please keep the info coming thanks every one for the input so far.

between Shelley and Blackfoot- fewer but larger browns. Little pressure

you could get lucky and run into a brown that size anywhere from eagle rock up to paliSades or up past ashton. real question here is do you have access to any type of boat, the right types of presentations and the time/dedication to put in the hours that you need to to get into a good fish. if you're stuck hiking you're really asking a lot of someone to say right where they go and have any luck catching decent size fish.

Im not asking spacifics i know what to use how to use it and when to use it just would like to be pointed in the general direction is all.. ive became very familiar with brown trout and how to catch them. Just need a little help with an stretch of river to find some browns is all..

The fish in the picture was caught above Swan Valley Bridge . Curt G.

Like brownie guy said a lot is going to depend on boat access. I know of 24+ browns being caught on the Sf and nf. Access is the key. Personally the biggest browns I have seen have come below the Damn just above the Bonn/ Jefferson county line bridge down to Idaho falls. Also winter time below gem state power house turns out some big uns.

If your not stuck on the snake there are a couple more options. Magic Res has MEGA Browns. Silver creek is also a producer of HUGE Browns. The key I have been told is fish silver creek at night. I don't know anything fist had about them I don't normally fish for trout unless I need bait. Ron

there are some nice browns in magic but they're few and far between in my experience. best ive personally landed there was 26. Silver creek did have a good year this last year but be careful of regulations if you're not a fly guy.

Thanks idahoron. Im not limeting myself to the snake. Im open to all possibilities of me tying into my personal best.. so is trout good catfish bait then? Only fish ive ever tried is sucker for catfish..

Back in its heyday my dad put a brown on the wall from just above the access at swan valley bridge!
Did you have access to a boat Jeremy?

Try just below Chester dam...a good friend of mine has been pulling in monsters every weekend for the last month. He showed me pics of browns in the 4-6lb range

As in chesterfield? Because that spot of the river is frozen solid.
