Are there any companies out there that rent out fish flashers? Was looking to get one for the upcoming weekend, but Google isn't being friendly.

I've never heard of any places that rent a flasher, but you might be on to a new business opportunity. You could even rent tents, poles, sleds etc, everything someone would need to make an outing and don't have the money to buy all at once. Or if someone was here from out of town, or just trying it out to see if its something they want to get into further.. might be lucrative.

In the meantime, you might be able to talk someone into going with you that has a flasher, Im not sure many people would be willing to loan, but would probably be happy to join you and bring their flasher along.

What is the advantage of a flasher over a graph?

Easy.... Easy....

That question pops up two or three times during each ice fishing season and it starts world war 3 between the flasher and the graph crowds!

Flasher Pros
Instantaneous Feedback
Almost 100% weatherproof
Great battery life

Flasher Cons
Takes a little while to learn to use
Expensive (not really sure why, considering it's 30 yr old technology)
No history
Does not work very well on a boat (not as versatile as a graph)

Graph Pros
Versatile (many people use them on their boats in the summer)
Shows you recent graph history
Much more versatility in adjusting settings

Graph Cons
LCD screens have a tendency to struggle in extreme cold
There's a slight delay in feedback (when compared to a comparable flasher)

Both will drastically increase your catch.

Lemme put my helmet on and get ready for the barrage of negative feedback. IMO, the flasher is the king of the hard deck. Graphs own the open water though. If I get to the lake and I'm missing my FL-20, I just turn around and go home.

Very Nice Comparison.

+1 on the pros and cons and give me a flasher on the hard deck any day.
