On Sunday some friends and I decided to take the kids to Starvation to get them on some perch. We had 3 adults and 6 kids and were on the ice by 8:00 a.m. We were fishing in 12' - 15' of water and as soon as we drilled the fist hole the kids started getting excited because they could see fish everywhere. We fished for 4 hours and ended up with 350-400 fish using ice flies (pink being the most popular, but it really didn't matter). most were 4-6" but we did keep 6 or so that were a little nicer. by the end we were catching them with licorice and cheetos.
My youngest daughter told me she would only go if she could wear a helmet. Her older sister fell on the ice at Scofield a few weeks ago and got a concussion. All in all a great day with the kids, I've never seen them concentrate as much as they did on this trip.

That's awesome. I've got to get my little girls up there to catch some. We've hit Scofield, Currant Creek, and Strawberry twice and only caught a few fish each time. Were you out in Bunny Gulch?

To be honest I'm still learing Starvation so I don't know where Bunny Gulch is. We took the first road before the Bridge (Stevwood RD) and fished about 100 yards west from a small rock island. Is that Bunny Gulch?
Your welcome to pm for more info. It would be great for the kids, I got a little bored but it was a blast seeing the kids stay at their ice hole and not give up after an hour.

I agree with you Jazzperch, I would have moved if it wasn't for the kids having so much fun. We would trying to move our fly away from the smaller ones and tried targeting the bigger ones.

could you see the fish down your hole since you were so shallow? but hey if the kids are having fun thats all that matters, plus theres alwasy time for a seroious outing next week or something.

We could see the fish down at the bottom, I think that's what made it so fun for them. I'm already trying to plan another trip this weekend. On the way home I told the kids that next weeks is an adult only fishing trip.

Great Post, Great Pics, Great Job. You can tell from the pics the kids had an awesome time, I wouldn't have moved either.[cool] From my experiences it is still funner to watch the little ones catch the little ones than it is to go out there and land some big ones but not have near the excitement.

Dan, yes you were in Rabbit Gulch. If you think that was a riot, you need to go there in the summer.
Why didn't you post a picture of Johns ugly mug, afraid it was going to break your camera?
Remember to put FL with me on your calendar, July 19-24. It's gonna be fun.
Perch, rainbows, splake, macs, and hopefully a tiger!

Thanks for the help Bennett. The kids had a blast and they were actually fishing the entire day. I would have posted a picture of John, but I didn't want to show him cuddling up to his heater all day.
I've talked to the wife and as long as the schedule works out we're in for the July trip.
Thank again

John is a real fisherman/liar. He told me the day was so warm he didn't even need gloves.
I would like to get a picture of him cuddled up to the heater if you could send me one?

Sounds like a hell of a great day to me! Wish that place were not so far away from SLC. Way to make some memories out there with the family!
