Well if you were a two inch perch, it would be a monster. Still a nice 24 inch brown that I caught today while fishing for perch at Starvation in 20 feet of water. I was using a Northland perch pattern 1/8 oz. lure tipped with a perch eye.

I actually found some decent size perch on a shallow (20-24') flat off the main part of the lake. We were within sight of the main boat ramp, if that helps with a general location.

We also caught quite a few of the Starvy Steelhead in the morning and the three of us took home 4 each of the smoker's delights. Ice was solid and about 9 inches thick all the way to where we were fishing. Biggest perch was just over 11.5 inches, a few others were nearly 10 inches.

The brown was released right after the photo and he swam away with no harm, no foul. You'd think the photo showing my 4 keeper rainbows would have answered the release question. But alas, the C&R police are lurking everywhere.

Hey Mike, cool brown. That top bow is a PIG!
Why is it the starvie bows have so much more girth on them than the browns? Wider forage base?

I think the 'bows are filled out now due to eggs in the females. A few we caught today were ripe and eggs came out when we handled them. The brown was actually in good shape. My brother lost one even bigger at the hole. He thought it was about 26 inches.

Pat, or Peter? If it was Pete, it was probably only 20"![laugh][laugh][Wink][Wink]

It was Pokchop, it could have been 17". It did fight real well on his ULTRA light 26" rod. His dog was the only witness and she lies!

NICE fish. I caught my first ever brown out of Starvvy this past summer. It was a tough fight on my 6' medium action Ugly Stik, so I can't imagine reeling one in on a perch rig!

There are some nice browns in Starvation, my son and I picked up some nice males last spring throwing cranks for walleye at night, the largest being slightly over 25 inches. We returned all of them but fun to catch on crank baits.[fishin]

Don't worry bout the "Catch N Release Police". Legally caught & Legally kept if you choose to do so. None of their business I think. Nice fish.

Good for you on releasing that Brown. The Brown Trout Gods will repay your generosity ten fold.
