Got on the water at daybreak after my brother begged out on me. Tried the lipless crankbait tango for the first couple of hours but they would have none of it. Nada on jerkbaits too. Water temp was 45 degrees early. Got a call from my BFL travel partner. He'd just caught a 7 lber on a shakey head. Far be it from me to turn down good advice. Rigged up a 3/16th oz head with a green pumpkin (only color I use) Zoom Trick Worm and went to work on secondary points. They seemed to be holding in 12 FOW. Dragging it slowly across the bottom was the ticket. Caught 18-20 over the next couple of hours including 6 cookie-cutter keepers in the 2 1/2 lb range. He swung by later to show me his fish. No one is better on a shakey head than David. He had a 27 lb bag (including a 9 lber) a week ago this past Thursday. All on a shakey head.
Stopped and talked to Seth for a few minutes while he stalked some crappie. Good to see friends on the water.
Water temp hit almost 49 degrees by the afternoon. As I noted earlier, almost all my fish were caught in 12 FOW. The upcoming week doesn't look cold so they ought to be in the same place next weekend.
