Hey Everyone,
I'm taking a couple of people out on Fish Lake tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone has been there lately and can tell me whether conditions have changed, i.e. is there any snow on the ice yet, or do I need to make sure everybody has some ice cleats? Thanks.

Take the cleats. A good rope secured to the ice with an ice anchor for all of your stuff will help too. Don't lay anything on the ice that you aren't willing to chase for a couple hundred yards to retrieve. If it ain't anchored down, it will blow away. Buckets, sleds, chairs, fishin' poles, you name it. My nine year old was forced to lie down and hang on to the sled a couple of times. It blew a fishing pole with the rod holder 50 yards across the ice. If there would have been a fish on at the time, it would have brought it right out of the water.
Even if it snowed recently, the wind will have blown it all off of the lake. Shore to shore, North to South skating rink ice last Friday. 50 m.p.h. winds. But the fish were biting.
Temps have been into the 40° range during the day, and no precipitation during the last 10 days. That's from the weather station near Twin Creeks.
