A creek flows very near to my home. This particular canyon holds many cherished memories for me. It's where I fell in love with fishing, so I like to pay it a visit every so often. It's like medicine for the soul[Smile]

I made a drive up here a couple weeks ago and decided I'd come back to find some of the brook trout. With the warmer weather, my plan was to drive as far up as I could, but en route I ran into this.

Bummer...the brookies wold have to wait as they usually further up the canyon where the road separates from the creek. However, I did find some rainbows that were eager to eat.

There really wasn't anything with much size, but the color of these fish made the trip more than worth it. It was great being the only one in the canyon.

I was mainly using a piece of worm on a small hook, but I recently started tying my own flies and wanted to try one. The fish below was taken on a small nymph I tied. First fish on my own fly....very cool feeling.

This guy fell victim to the worm

I made my way farther up the canyon, and came across this gem. What fisherman wouldn't drool over this!?

Needless to say, I had so much fun here

This next fish was super aggressive. I think I missed it 3 times before finally landing it. It's great fun to watch a trout come out of hiding and slam your offering. When I finally got it in I was blown away by the spots. It looked like it had a bad eye, but when I looked closer I noticed it was just spots....crazy

Crazy eyes[Wink]

Those are some gorgeous fish, that looks like my kind of place. Congrats on your first trout on one of your own flies. It definitely gets addictive when you start getting into that.

Awesome post with the pics. Well done with your own flies, I imagine now that you've got the "bug" you won't be buying many flies in the future. Great post again[cool]

Welcome to BFt. I hope to see lots of posts by you in the future.

Usually if the poster doesn't say where it is, it is because they don't want to say. It is someplace too small to survive the publicity of the Internet.

It really doesn't matter anyway, there are hundreds of little streams just like that up and down all the mountain canyons. They are wonderful little gems that hold a treasure trove of tiny trout. If you get a chance, get out and explore a few canyons.

If the stream is small, don't automatically discount it. Explore it a bit and give it a try. You may be surprised at what you find. Searching for them can become an addiction!

Jer_fishes, that is a beautiful little stream. Thanks for posting your adventure on it. It isn't about the size of the fish, it is about the whole experience. I love the little streams and high lakes!

Cpierce has it exactly right. This stream is very tiny and I don't want to just come out and say it. There are plenty of streams in almost every canyon you go to, and some of them hold some great fish. PM if you want some info [Wink]

Think I know where this is never fished it but I would love to draw a deer tag for it.
