[#502800]I was watching a newscast of the outdoor expo. and noticed the new Kahtoola ice cleats, that they were demonstrating. They look like they might work better than anything I have. Has anyone tried them?[/#502800]

I have them and they are the best. They are tough and I have never had them slip off. I have been through four cleats now and the kahtoola are the best.

So which ones do you have, the micro spikes or the crampons? I purchased the celcius brand cleats at sportsman's this year and they have been ok but I would prefer something that has cleats on the heal as well as the ball of the foot area.

I have the Stableicers , they are pricey $49.00 . They have replacable cleats that look like self starting screws . My fishing Partner broke his arm last year , and in the long run they are a lot cheaper . Curt G.

I have the Micro spikes, they grab plenty well. I drag my jet sled XL, quickfish 6, gas auger and other stuff up the grade in Tanners Hollow at East canyon and they have not failed me yet. This was last year when there was snow. I was also able to do a full run across the ice at Rockport this year. The rubber on the cleat comes high over the top of your boot so they never slip off. The rubber is also high enough that you have a little wiggle room to slide the cleats more towards the toe or towards the heel. They are wroth every cent.

Costco has Snow Trax cleats for $15 for 2 pair. I just bought some and will try them out this week. I figure for the cost, they are worth trying out. They have cleats on the heel and coils beneath the ball of your foot.

Daughter and I have the Costco version and they're pretty good.
The coils aren't perfect on the really bad black ice, but as long as you remember to step on the heel they work fairly well. Neither of us has done TD's patented triple klutz maneuver yet this ice season, anyway [

[#502800]Yeah, I was looking at the Micro Spikes. Where did you get them?[/#502800]
[#502800]I have a couple pair of the Costco kind. They are ok, but I have to put silcone on the back of the heel on my boots to keep them from slipping off the back. Boot manufacturers should build a little nub to prevent this.[/#502800]

[#502800]I walk my dog on icy roads every day, so I need something a little more stable.[/#502800]
