Well the main lake has had enough of being iced so we fished the L Started at 7 started off with a double of the white bass sort. Fished the channel with a white bass chunk tied it to a pop can a let it be. We fished in the rain until 11 ended up with 52 white bass and one perch all white bass were little ones kept them for some good Cat bait it sure was a wet day had lots of fun but no biggins.

[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Do you ever fish around the rockpile at the mouth of the L? Sometimes a hangout for both kitties and wallies.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Sorry you didn't find something bigger.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Is the main ice cap blown off down there?[/#0000ff]

Yes I do fish that rock pile my buddy caught a cat almost as big as his tailgate. Its bad spot for snags though, Nope cant beat the fun

I am new to Utah and just getting into fishing here. We really enjoyed fishing Utah Lake last summer. Close, cheap and lots of fun. We are more "quantity than quality" folks at this time. I guess if I get bored of little White Bass, I be ready to move on to bigger and better.

So two things: 1) Where the L is the L? 2) Where can I get Tubedude's UL book?

I really enjoy reading Tubedude's posts. I think his book would be a fun read, as well as very helpful to a newbie...

I am open to other suggestions on resources as well.

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome to Utah...and Utah Lake...and BFT.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am attaching a fishing map of the Lincoln Point area. The "L" is #3 on that map. It is in an area off limits to public access...by land...but you can walk around to it over the ice from the parking area at the County Park. It is an old harbor from the early days, when there was a resort at Lincoln beach...with dancing, hot spring swimming pools and lots of social activity. There are still two old concrete launch ramps along the edge of that protected little water hole.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Also attaching a PDF file of info on my Utah Lake Book. Send me a PM with your mailing address and let me know how you want to pay.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have been working on another chapter covering ice fishing on Utah Lake. Haven't gathered a lot of good new material this wacky winter.[/#0000ff]

I drove all the way down to the old boat ramps yesterday. I know their is signs but their is a opening in the fence. This year on the pheasant hunt i pulled through the opening and parked my truck in plain sight, a DNR officer driving by stopped hoped the fence and checked our hunting license. I thought he would tell me i was breaking the law but he didn't. Im thinking I want to go back today and try it again, it was too much fun.

Here is a pic of my buddies double he got.

I belive it would be closer to park at the angler access and walk to the L Its quite a walk from the county park

[cool][#0000ff]That area is posted as private property and the owners sometimes enforce it and sometimes less so. Vandals and trespassers destroy the signs and take down the fence gates and leave them open. But that does not mean the area is open to public traffic...and you do risk getting a ticket. If a county sheriff had checked you, rather than the DNR officer, you would have probably been busted.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]That area has had a history. Some years...during low water...the property owners have to allow public access. Their property extends to the historic high water mark of the lake. If there is a lot of exposed shoreline between the water level and the high water mark they allow access.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, they have also been known to shut it down when anglers and campers start trashing the place. It is appalling how much trash the idiots leave behind in only a day or two when the walleye run is on in the spring.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]A good example of why they are not anxious to make the area more available happened a few years ago. A group of teens...well fortified with adult beverages...tried to drive across a "shallow" gravel bar. Bad idea. Their truck flooded and died. So, they tried to sue the property owners for not posting warning signs. Oh yeah, that was also during a time when it was off limits and the guys had driven through the fence to get down to the water.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It is a long hike around from the main parking area. And I forgot about the public access spot on the road right next to the L. That place gets to be a zoo when there is any kind of fishing available to the wader warriors. I NEVER use that spot. [/#0000ff]

Tubedude's book on Utah lake is great. Makes a great gift also. The info can be used on other water with those species! I got me one and one for my son-in-law for x-mas. Very enjoyable read.

Thanks TubedDude for the great book!

In that map you show there is a road from goshen, do you have the name of that road? and is it paved?
[signature]
[cool][#0000ff]Once you are on the road at Lincoln Point, you are on Lincoln Beach Road. It is paved all the way to Genola...south of the lake. It runs right next to the lake along much of it's length and there are some pullouts with good fishing once you pass the no trespassing signs. It can be especially good fishing around the little irrigation pump canal and inlets. But just chucking out a bobber and worm all along that shoreline is often a good bet.[/#0000ff]

Today the broken ice is about 50 yds from the point at the L and some wave action trying to reach the solid ice a good wind and it will be gone. The fish didn't seem to want to cooperate today no bite at the L i tried 5 different holes inside the L. Went to the LB BH and a guy their was catching a bunch most little ones but he did ice 5 large whites I caught 4 small ones, Pretty slow for me, I move to the last irrigation inlet and give it a hour no bites nothing. Nice beautiful day though. I did discover a elk carcass at the L somebody dumped it, all the meat was their no head I reported it to the DNR thought it was suspicious. I hope they catch who left that good meat to waste. It wont be long and the Addy blue will be on the water. Cant wait for the wallies to bite.
