Fished off browning point 5 ish feet of water before ice. 5 plus inches of water on ice on way out. fished in 51 feet of water fish were from 51 to 38 feet iced 21 between 3 of us we took all the slush / snow around us and built us up out of the water. Walk back at 3 am ish was 1 inch of crust covered in 1 inch of snow really wet. Maybe if weather stays cold it might freeze it up. Biggest was 15 smallest was around 7 average 12 ish.

Never fished PV but that sounds like a blast. This weather is really reaking havoc on all the lakes Im not ready to get the boat back out just yet I hope it stays cold.

how thick is the ice over by browning point?

Around 6 inches if the water / slush freezes would be around 11 inches. When we filled our first hole it added another 3 inches of water it was kind of scary to see all that water rushing out of our holes

thanks for the quick update! it's just all of the weight from the wet snow that causes the water to rush up. i know what its like, it sucks!

It was pretty cold last night after all the warm in the afternoon and the warm this morning. I might try it.
You guys just get there at dark?
Any recommendations on lures, etc....?

I am sitting in my shanty right now at S Cemetary Point. Got here about 1pm. Haven't had so much as a sniff on my line. I've tried every bait I can thinl of, every rig, every thing in my box. I've moved deeper and shallower, and everything between - they just aren't biting. It's been snowing since I got here, and it's pretty damn frigid.
So did you get any? My guess is no . . . CRAPPIE live up to their name, they can be really crappy to find and catch.
Essentials -
#1 a flasher,
#2 the right lures,
#3 a knowledge of where they will be. You can be literally 10 feet away from the school and you will either be skunked or only catch a few dinks.
#4 a willingness to drill at least 10 holes and maybe 30 - 40 holes in the ice so you can find the school.
GOOD LUCK!! [
