Has anyone been to Newton the last couple days? I would like to go catch some perch but I don't have an extension ladder or canoe to get on the ice. Any report on the edges would be greatly appreciated.

The colder weather today may help, but yesterday my entire front yard was swallowed up with rushing water, the rest of the yard with standing pools of water and several inches of slush. I would imagine Newton is soggy too as it's only a few miles to the east of my house.

Drove by Friday to take a peek. I wouldn't try it with a plank less than 12 feet long to make sure the ice under it on the other end is thick enough. That's just me though. I didn't get out if the car, though. Hopefully that helps. And hopefully these colder temps help too.

Monstermasher and I done a drive by on Saturday around 10-11 AM and it looked highly suspect. You would need a very long ladder or plank to get out there, and I don't think I would have wanted to be out there if I could have gotten across the edges safely.

Pretty amazing miniature chocolate rivers raging through all the ditches draws and barrow pits on the drive.
