Good Mornin' All,

I am getting the bug to try fishing Lake Mead after a ten year hiatus. I'm looking for some recommended gear for my tackle box. I has a few Zara Spooks, pencil popper, kastmasters, and other smaller tackle. After an internet search I currently have information overload pretaining to lures, so I figured I could go right to the sources. Thank you in advance.

hey Nu2Fishagain . . .first i would recommend that you register as a member here, theres a lot of benefits . . and some good people . .

first, dont spend a ton of money . .and target the species you're after . .. all the lures you mention are great when the stripers are boiling on the surface . . .

if you are after stripers on a boat, most of the year you use bait . . the rest of the time its shad imitating lures . . .

what kind of fish are you after?

At this point in time, just about any critter that fits on the hook. I'd like to get into some Stripers and some crappie, maybe later go for largemouth. Also looking for anyone who wants to hook up to do some fishing. I am currently afoot so I know I am limited on what lures I should use.

well if fishing from shore you probably got the shad lures covered with what you mentioned . . id have a rod you can cast a mile, and bring in a 10 lb cat too . . .a long med rod perhaps, and a reel that holds a lot of line . . . for lures get some jigs of different types first, theyre cheap and catch alot of different fish . .get some small tube jigs, maribou jigs, light and dark, different sizes . . .

get good baitholder hooks in different sizes for holding the anchovie, shrimp or whatever youre gonna use for bait . . .and some little hooks for panfish, crappie, bluegill . . .

after that maybe a few plastic worms, spinnerbaits, inline spinners, a rapala or two . .and youre about ready for anything . .

[size 2]I have recently layed my hands on some of these lures, and if nothing else they are just way to cool to fish with. But in my box the rule is if I dont fish with it, it dosn't belong there.[/size]

the todays catch is from fryday a limit of 8 inch gills "25"

on thursday same limmit with an added tidbit

I checked out the Megabait Lures and if all else I could just filet them out. I'll add them to my ever growing list of lures. Thanks. My one question concerning the Megabait "Charlie" how durable is the back-end. It looks like one good bite and you have a new half lure.

that is a good question,

I didnt see any back parts for sale on the site, I did not look that theroughly. I have brought in some small bass so far nothing big, at this point there is no dammage. I havnt hooked in to any thing with teeth yet. like pike or walleye, I havent been fishing for them.
