I have never fished Pineview but thinking about a Saturday trip. Interested to hear about ice conditions and what portions of the lake I should look at hitting. Thanks in advance....

i hit it on monday and only caught ten perch in 4 hours. the ice conditions were plenty safe it was just really wet. i tried to hit brownings point but was stopped by the 12 inch deep water on top of the main cap and i didnt feel like gettin wet. so i packed up my stuff to cemetery point and saw a few people out on the sout side. went to walk out and ther was still 4 to 6 inches of slush everywhere i walked, so rubber boots are a must if you dont want to get wet. i fished in 48 ft of water and got 10 little perch about 8 to 9 inches, caught em all on ratso and shrimpo ice flies above a halis tipped with waxies and perch eyes. i hope this helps. if you can access browning without getting wet that is where i would fish, weve done better there for bigger perchh and a few crappies.

Great info. and much appreciated. I'll watch the temps up there before making the decision to hit that lake. May look elsewhere for Saturday. It's a quandary........[crazy]

Live here in Ogden Valley and the temps have been on the warm side [:/]. Low to mid 20s overnight all week and today at 4pm 35 degrees when I drove across the dam. As stated earlier, wear waterproof gear cause it looks wet out there and more storm predicted tomorrow night.
Have been seeing heavy fishing pressure in the narrows as parking near the caretakers house was packed last weekend even during the crappy rainstorm we were having. Another guy in the Narrows this afternoon and several folks off Browning Point.

You said there was 12 inches of water on the top, so how are the edges at browning point? Are poeple having to use a plank to get on the ice and did you notice if the ice is still good or starting to soften.[frown]
Was thinking about going this week but really unsure about the safety of the ice, hope it's hanging in there cause I'm not ready for the soft water[mad] yet.

Just tried my luck tonight for crappies out by Browning with no luck. Talked to some other guys out there and they were doing about as well as me. They got on the lake by Browning and it was very slushy to get to a plank and even open water along the edges there. I got on at Port Ramp and had to use the dock walk from the parking that extends to the good ice. There was about 10-15 ft of very soft ice at the ramp but once you get on the ice is fine and the snow/slush was nice and frozen this evening. Not sure about the south side of Cemetary though.
If anyone has any tips they'd like to pm me with about night crappie fishing that would be nice[

its really soft on the edges and wet too but once on the main cap about 15 feet out it is over a foot thick. just be prepared or bring a plank with you. but the southside of cemetary point were just fine on monday but that could have changed in 4 days.

[cool]Thanks for the info muskycoop and jazzperch1, sounds pretty good but I'm gonna have to wait til next week to get out there now. Hopefully things will improve on the edges by then. We really need to have it get cold again but it's not in the near forcast for now. I definitely haven't gotten enough trips to the view this year, gotta get my panfish fix for sure. Thanks again[
