Fished from 10 AM to 5. Water started out at 49 but I saw 53.1 degrees later in the PM. First stop at a favorite little cut near Wolftever was MUDDY and just dead feeling. Went over to a major creek on the west side of the lake. South facing rocky points with some wind seemed promising and the water was slightly cleaner. Threw a one-knocker in the sexy shad flavor and caught a good 3-4 lbr straight away. Marked some rock piles, trees or something good under the boat on my not so HD Lowrance so I backed off into 20 ft and threw a sexy shad 5xd. Not many bites but most were good ones. Biggest was around 5 give or take. Just crankin' it slow on the winch and beating up the cover. Lost several CB's throughout the day hanging up on the junk. Kept going back and forth across the same stretch. Saw boats coming and going but I was content with the steady bite I was having. Caught 3 around 2 lbs but the rest were between 3-5 lbs. The last of the earlier mentioned crankbaits is being worn as bling by a Slouch pig that broke me off on a main lake point that had wind screaming across an exposed rock pile. I retied after every fish but the flourocarbon couldn't take that sharp rock she was stuck behind. I thought I was hung up...even popped the line bow and arrow style thinking I was stuck on a tree....then I felt her head shake. Line snapped shortly after. Stood there watching her put on an acrobatic show for 5 minutes after. Got my net ready if she jumped close so I could remove that huge CB from her face but never could get close. Thought maybe I'd see the bait float up...never did. Huge fish though. I feel terrible thinking a fish of that caliber may die with that bait in her mouth. Sad Hopefully one of you guys will recover the bait and that big girl lives. Anyway. Gonna try to post a few photos from my day.
