Loaded up the boat about 11:30 and went and filled it up with gas. As im pulling outta the gas station Brent calls and asked if i wanted to join him. So back to the house i go and unhook my boat and off i went to meet him. At least i have a full tank of gas for the week now. Got to the water about 1:30 and headed for a secondary point that dropped off to about 8 ft that had been holding some fish but noticed the water had dropped from about 51 to 47 degrees from the previous day. Not a good sign. Brent started off throwing a trap so i picked up a jig just to differ in baits and on the 2nd cast my line got heavy so i set the hook. First keeper in the boat about 2.5 lbs in about 10 mins. Maybe it wasnt gonna be such a bad day afterall. We proceeded for about the next hr or so without a bite. Cranked up and moved out closer to the main channel to try to find some warmer water. Found an area with water temp near 50 so we both chunked our traps out there. I hooked into a good one about 3.5 lbs. 2nd keeper in the boat. Continued targeting points in the same area and got another 16 incher about 2 lbs on a kvd 1.5. So now i have 3 keepers and Brent has none. Im ecstatic at this point because this never happens. From that moment on he handed it to me. We moved to another point and by now the wind is howling. He tossed his jig up there and immediately sets the hook on a good one about 4 lbs. Moved across the slough to the opposite point and Brent gets another 4.5 lber and brings me back down to Earth. All fish were caught 4-7 ft of water. Ended the day with 5 fish all keepers for a total of 16-17 lbs. Not a bad day considering the conditions. We've been so spoiled with all these warm winter days it's kinda humbling when it actually feels like winter and the fish dont wanna cooperate.
