Very cool buggy! I've always wanted to give them a try but just haven't made it.

The only lake trout I've caught in my life was there at the state park when I was a kid. I remember how excited I was. Nice fish. Do you ever pull any squaw fish out through the ice there? I used to go by the dam in the summer and catch them all the time when we were up there on family vacation.

glad you got into them. what was the biggest of the day?

31 inches was the best for the day. Put up a great fight too. Went again the next day and got a big fat goose egg. I'm going to go back again in a week or two. Maybe try somewhere else? I'd like to get into a big one. I keep hearing about 30+ lbers. I estimated the 31 incher to be around 8-12 lbs (I was really thinking probably about 9).

Never have caught a squaw there. A few suckers and some rainbows, but no squaws.

I dont know about buggy but lures for me... you could always check the ice fishing contest page and see if entered in the contest to see what he used.

Had another decent day at Payette Lake (not me personally, but my group). The wood burning look at times is to disquise the lures. I'm willing to share some info on a PM basis.

Nice video. I was up there yesterday too. We were fishing off of ponderosa. Looks like you were by the outlet? Ended up landing 5 lost 7 after initial hook sets. Actually caught 1 on a tip up on a dead Kokanee. I like seeing the fish going back down the hole!

Were you in the west arm? If so, I saw you over there.

That is essential, IMO, or this fishery will be gone. I don't mind helping someone get into these, I just want to make sure they understand the importance of putting them back to breed and to be caught again.

I must admit that I did keep 1 the first time we went. It was okay eating wise, but I won't keep another, EVER, unless I think it is going to die anyway.

I did have to educate my friend on being easy on the fish. I don't know if you noticed, but his interaction and care of the fish was much better on the last one as compared to his previous ones.

looks like a fun trip and some great fish [cool]

Nope east side. If you go into ponderosa state park there is a admin building just to the left. Parked there
