A friend of mine was talking about finding a better ride. I have been looking for a used ride for him. There has been a new Sportsmans 10 at sportsman's warehouse for a couple of years. I told him to go make them an offer. After talking for a while he said what I want to find is a boat like yours for the 300.00 range. I smarted off and said you can have mine for the 300 .00. He said done. So now I didn't have a ride.
Friday I went over to Sportsman's warehouse and talked to them about the 10 foot boat. They had it on the shelf a long time. The new Sportsmans 9 ( outcast FC9 pre IR) like the one I sold were 499.00 without a aluminum deck. They had a price on the Sportsamns 10 (outcast 10 pre IR style) of 499.00 with an aluminum deck. I priced aluminum diamond plate. 18x24 would be about 30.00 new.
I tried to talk them down more since they had it so long but the Manager said it had been dropped already by several hundred dollars already. So I took it. I gave them a coupon for another 25 dollars off at the register. That brought the price down to 474.00 I used the 300 I got for my boat and that gave me a new ride for 174.00. I also had tax on that.
Anyway I switched over all my stuff and got my new frame ready. I am excited about a slightly larger boat. The higher weight capacity will be great for river floats going after catfish and Sturgeon. The material on this boat is 900 Denier / 1200 Denier PVC which is higher than the most of the new boats in the Outcast line. After looking over the papers I found this boat was actually a 2007 model. The New Outcast" FC 10 IR" has fabric that shows as "Fabric: 500 PVC/500 PVC" To me it looks like all the fabric on the new Outcast boats has been reduced. Mine has a thickness on the bottom panel of 1200Denier PVC. That is a thicker grade than any of the new boats that Outcast makes until you move up to the Pro series. They have also reduced the cost by taking off the aluminum plate on the back.
Since it is so cold right now I haven't aired it all the way up. It was the floor model at the store and it had air in them there but not tight. I wish I would have taken a picture of it over there. I would like to have some D rings glued on for my Fish finder. Other than that I am ready for some warmer weather so I can try it out. Pictures will come later.
