So I headed out to Lake Mead on Sunday thinking it should be pretty dead out there because of the game. Got on the lake about 5:30am and headed to crawdad cove. Jigged the usual spots and nothing, headed into the wash, with my new handy dandy humminbird 798CI SI HD and WOW, found fish everywhere. First found them in 80' feet of water, dropped the jig and bam, got one, dropped again and bam. That last about ten minutes until the school moved. Had to follow the school around but every time I dropped the jig I would get a hit. Moved to shallow water where the river inlet is in about 35' of water and stayed there until noon. Landed about 45 fish, biggest about 2 lbs all C&R. Did see a lot of boats in the wash but didn't see anyone pulling up fish. But did see some kind of fishing jumping, they weren't carp (Carp were present), about 10-12 inches long, maybe gizzard shad or something, anyone know? Anyways, great day on the lake wind calmed down and turned out to be a great day.

You missed one heck of a game and Madona's half time show. [
] Sounds like you all had a great day on the water. Thanks for the report.

Oh I didn't miss the game at all, I was off the water by noon. Actually made a killing on the game with my bets. It was a great day all around. Always bet the under in big games.

Awesome day man! I been eyeing that finder for a min. Have you played with SI? Do you think its worth the money?

The SI is a cool item when looking for structure on the bottom. Can't wait to take it to Fish Lake or Flaming Gorge for lakers. I think it would do great on the River, haven't tried down there yet. I found a great deal on it for $750 that is why I picked it up, don't think its worth the money if you fish lake mead. The GPS is awesome on it, I got a full topographic map of Lake Mead, pretty darn accurate, which is awesome when i want to follow schools of fish at a certain depth, but I think you can get the GPS on cheaper models.

Cool. I saw a deal on academy. For 749 did yours include the chip for charts. If u don't mind where did you pick it up at. 750 with chip you got a great deal!

I got mine exactly for $749 with free shipping from Ebay, monday after Thanksgiving. It didn't come with a chip for charts, but has a lot of charts built into it. And does have the option to insert additional charts for added cost. One of the main reasons I got it is because I intend to hook up the Canon Link, and get new downriggers that tie into my fishfinder so I don't run my balls along the lake bottom [sly]. No one likes dragging or slamming their balls into the ground.

I would like to try jigging for stripers from a kayak, would you mind telling me what kind of jigs you use? (A photo would be great).
Thanks....

Not about to share all my secrets with the internet community. I mainly use 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz, metal white jigs with a black dot to represent a threadfin shad.

Aiming to launch from Govmnt wash before sunrise Friday (10th) morning if any other kayakers are interested.
